I've truly been blessed to meet some amazing people along the way in the music industry. Having met Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis through the Recording Academy (Grammys) I was able to meet Noe Benitez from Texas through them. Lucky has a band and they go by the name "Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band", they play children's music with a Latin Twist…I love their music and are some of the nicest most talented musicians I know. They actually won a Latin Grammy Award last year for Best Children's Album. The future is looking GREAT for Lucky and Alisha!! Noe Benitez is a Producer and Songwriter based in Texas near the heart of Tejano Music. Through him I met a Laredo based singer who goes by the name Phoebe Marie. Phoebe has an amazing voice and is sure to catch fire. Because of Lucky and Noe I've been fortunate enough to write Phoebe two songs in a Latin/Pop Style. "Siguendo Suenos" and "Acercate" are the two tracks I've produced, written and composed for her. It truly is a blessing and an honor to continue on my musical path…it has a lot of twists and turns but I wouldn't change it for the world!

I recently got the opportunity to work with Glenda through a contact I made through Facebook. Glenda has an amazing voice and is a rising star in the Mexican Jazz Pop genre. I wrote a song titled "Weren't Meant To Be" awhile back and asked if she would be interested in laying down her vocals for me. She agreed and the end result was a really nice collaboration between the two of us. Glenda continues to perform and write her own songs and is catching fire in her musical career. I'm looking forward to working with her again soon and wishing her the very best in everything she does! Hello Everyone!
I know it's been awhile since I've last posted in here but wanted to take the time to give a little update on what's been going in my life as well as with my music. I recently got married in August of 2013 to an amazing women…I mostly concentrated on getting the wedding planned for, making sure everything ran as smoothly as possible. So the last year and a half has been concentrating on that very important chapter in my life. Now in 2014 I will be writing and working on my songwriting craft again. I have decided that I will focus mainly on studio work and songwriting from this point on. I do like performing and the live Audio Sound aspect of music but feel writing material in Pop, Latin and Classical is my real calling. I love the creative part of music a little more and feel I will concentrate my power and resources there. In 2014, I really want to Network with other artists, songwriters, labels and publishers to bring some new exciting and fresh ideas to the music industry…I feel that I can offer plenty with the experiences that I've gone through and the knowledge I've gained throughout the years. I really feel like it's time to make an impact and I'm hungrier than ever to leave my footprint on the music industry. If you are reading this and are a songwriter, I'd really love to talk and work on new music with you. Let's create some memorable tunes, work hard for our goals and mainly have a good time! Alfonso 2012 has been both positive and steady in both learning new writing techniques and meeting new music makers in different genres…everything from classical to film scoring to rap, country, folk, electronic, new age and many more.
I've gotten to meet talented musicians, songwriters and composers from across the globe. Seeing and hearing first hand just how many talented artists there are in the world really takes a person back. I've learned to appreciate how blessed I am to be in the music industry…there really isn't anything else that compares to this industry. I've been mostly working on "Film Score" type of music but I am going to focus on the "Singer/Songwriter" genre for now. Like I mentioned above…I've learned new techniques in song writing and music writing "structure" in general as far as carrying the story along in my music. Since I first started out in music back in 2004 (wow, has it really been that long)? I always made an effort to learn something new each and everyday. It has payed off in dividends as I have not only learned more about my music abilities but I've also networked with new artists near and far, gathered all the feedback I could and am moving forward in a constant positive direction. I'm always looking to improve and always yearning to learn something new and exciting. 2013 will bring new challenges and I'm looking forward to diving in head first to continue my learning and music creation experience. I'm wishing you all a Happy New Year! Here's to another positive and productive year! All the best. Alfonso 2011 has been a pretty sweet year!
Made some new music…made some new friends and contacts inside the music industry and in my personal life. It’s been great and it’s been a lot of fun! I became a Voting Member of The Recording Academy (The Grammy’s) and had one of my recent albums on the Grammy Ballots!! I’ve been pushing and fighting through the crazy turns, hills and mazes that is “the music industry”… I’m not going to lie…it has been tough and it truly is a test of patience and perseverance. But it is what I absolutely love to do! I work a normal day job but I know in my heart that music is where it begins and ends for me. The people I’ve met, the places I’ve seen because of the music industry is something else…I can’t imagine my life being where it is without music being such a factor with everything that I do. I’m so thankful to the big man upstairs for everything I’ve been able to accomplish and the people I’ve been blessed to meet along the way. Although I started out in pop and made my way into the classical world…I’m again making a change. Heading into the “Scoring to Picture” world. I really love the aspect of creating “emotions” to scenes. I will continue to write music in Pop and Classical but I will be dedicating more of my time to the film scoring community. With influences such as Brian Tyler, Hans Zimmer and of course John Williams…this is a side of music that I really do love and will work my butt off to make things happen. I’ve been thankful to be successful in both pop and classical and hopefully I can continue it on into scoring music to picture. I hope that each of you is following your heart and your dreams because it’s a beautiful thing when pieces of the puzzle start falling into place! Here’s to another successful, safe and a Happy New Years!! All the best in 2012!! Alfonso Intro:
Hey everybody, it’s been a while since I wrote in my blog and felt like I should get on here and write a little bit. Hopefully everyone has been doing great! I’ve been keeping busy with music…writing new music for my upcoming CD release! Also getting a lot of experience in the “Scoring for Picture” world…I’ve been working on new demo reels of my music so please check them out in the “Reels” section of my site! I also added a new “Poems” section to my site…check that out as well. It’s been a hot and muggy summer so far but it is a nice change from the freezing cold! My ideal temperature would be 60-65 degrees year round! But..It is Minnesota so the weather is pretty unpredictable, ha-ha. Music Update: As I mentioned above…I am working on a new CD release. If you are a fan of film music (soundtracks) you know that the music on those CD’s is directly from the movie or video game. The CD release I’m currently working on is similar to those…only that the inspiration and direction of this is from my imagination. A soundtrack to my imagination if you can imagine that with me. I’m a constant daydreamer…always thinking about adventures I could be on and so fourth. I’ve been inspired by the video game music of Composer Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon) and Film Composer Brian Tyler (Fast Five, Battle: LA). I’m looking to release this album in the fall so I will keep you updated as I go along! Currently Watching: I went to go see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part. 2 on Friday Opening Day! What an Epic series that is. I’m a fan of J.K Rowling’s…here books are Imagination at its finest!! Check it out when you have a chance. If you haven’t been keeping up with it…watch them all and then go see the final showdown between Harry and Voldemort! I’ve also been watching a lot of other films for scoring perspective. Getting the feel of how composers matched the music to the emotions being portrayed on the scenes…the small film scoring community is such a great experience for me…it’s really different than the pop world I’m so used to…it’s a challenge but I’m definitely enjoying myself! “A soothing blend of Brian Tyler and Antonio Vivaldi's classical, with a mix of Bruno Mars pop and a bit of latin flare.” Alfonso Intro:
First off I want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Easter!! I always do enjoy being with the family and friends to end the weekend on a high note! Good food, good company, what else could you ask for?? =) What and how will you spend your Easter?? Music Update: I’m excited to announce that I’m finished with my “Solo Classical Works” Classical CD!! I started this project at the beginning of February and I’m now ready to show you my new pieces…I hope that you enjoy listening to my new works!! As an added BONUS!! This CD is available as a FREE Full Album Download!! ;) With my Birthday coming up on April 28th and it being Easter this weekend…I feel really good about sharing this New CD with all of you as a token of my gratitude to listeners and fans that have been supporting me along the way on my adventure through the music world. Please help yourself by downloading the Full CD on my “Classical” Page on my website: www.alfonsotellezjr.com It was exciting to be writing for solo pieces this time around…It was certainly challenging to write for solo pieces when my mind wanted to “Layer” various other instruments to go along with the melodies and themes I created…but I pulled through and patiently wrote for those specific Instruments and enjoyed the end results. Did I mention it was FREE!!!!??? =) Help your self and enjoy my new works! Currently Watching: I bought Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part. 1 last weekend and just watched it last night. I got to see it in the theatre as well but man do I love that story!! I’m a big Harry Potter fan…if you haven’t gotten the opportunity to watch this Epic story…I highly recommend it!! Also got to see “The Good Shepherd” starring Matt Damon, Robert De Niro and Angelina Jolie. Dubbed “The Godfather of CIA Movies”…a really great thriller about the birth of the CIA. If you like action, drama with story twist and turns…. check this one out! You won’t be disappointed. “A soothing blend of Brian Tyler and Antonio Vivaldi's classical, with a mix of Bruno Mars pop and a bit of latin flare.” www.facebook.com/alfonsotellezjr www.twitter.com/alfonsotellezjr All the best. As I write this…I can only hope that everyone who has been affected by the earthquake in Japan can come out of this with new hope and light…It truly is unbelievable what is going on over there. My thoughts and prayers are with friends and families who are affected in one way or another by these events. Currently Watching: This past weekend I had the chance to see Battle: LA…really great movie ;) Lots of explosions, action and really good music to accompany it by Brian Tyler. It is about Marines being the last line of defense against an out of this world enemy…literally! As my brother is a recent Marine graduate…I connected with it in more ways than one so it was a really good movie for me! Check it out if you like some fast, high flying action! Also, recently watched an older flick titled: “Legends of the fall” with Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, and Aiden Quinn. A really great story about three brothers and their father living in the wilderness of 1900s USA and how their lives are affected by nature, history, war, and love. Check it out when you have a chance! Currently Listening to: Recently I’ve had the opportunity to listen to new artists and past favorite artists of mine…A couple of good artists and songs I recommend are “Lost Without You” by Robin Thicke and “Never Gonna Leave This Bed” by Maroon 5. A couple of really nice songs…check these out when you have some time…I think you’ll enjoy them! Music Update: So I’m nearly done with my Classical CD. The CD is a demonstration of working with Solo Instruments from the Classical World. The Solo Instruments on my CD are as follows: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Harp, Piano, French horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Violin, Viola, Bass (Contra Bass) and Cello. It has been both challenging and extremely enjoyable. At times it can be hard to write for just one instrument on its own since my mind can hear multiple sounds coming from one simple melody line. And also, I got the opportunity to write for instruments I don’t usually write for on a daily basis. This project is going to lead into my next Classical CD project…but more on that later! As soon as I finish this project I can finish up on my “Soundtrack” type CD project as well…Like I’ve mentioned…I’ve started that one and can hardly wait to finish it up. Although Soundtracks usually have films to accompany them…my CD project is a Soundtrack type but the images are coming from imagination so it’s extremely enjoyable to just kind of go off and wander on my own to an adventure that hasn’t happened yet. My inspirations are coming from cartoons, movies throughout my child and adulthood but also videogames I’ve played through the years (mostly Role Playing Games ala Final Fantasy!) Can’t wait! Hope you are enjoying your day! Hopefully you are having a great and productive day and keeping warm in this cold winter season (for those of us in the chilly part of the country). The constant freezing temperature definitely has a bite but it’s almost over and soon comes spring! It has been a great start to 2011…I have been keeping busy with 2 new CD Releases as well as taking some new online classes, and working in the field of Audio Engineering from time to time. Hoping and working towards a great, positive and productive new year! Hoping the best for you as well! Currently Watching: I’ve recently been watching the American Film Institutes (AFI) “100 Greatest Movies of All Time”. I started with “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962) and saw why the movie won 7 Academy Awards. Never mind that the movie is almost 4 hours long, the story itself is great! Check it out when you have a chance! Currently Listening to: It has been awhile since a singer on the radio really caught my attention and made me sit back and really take notice. That singer ladies and gentlemen is Peter Gene Hernandez or better known as “Bruno Mars”. His songs “Just The Way You Are” and more specifically “Grenade” are reflections of what some of my feelings were when I first started out in the music Industry. I really like his vocals...a soothing distinct mellow sound that made me an instant fan with great songwriting to back it up! If you haven’t heard him…please check him out! He is a recent Grammy Winner at the recently held 53rd Grammy Awards Ceremony. How about you? What's in your CD player? Email me back or tweet me…I would like to hear your response! @alfonsotellezjr Music Update: Things are going great with my music. I’ve started 2 new CD projects for 2011. One is a Classical and the other is “Film/Soundtrack/Action Packed/Percussion Driven” type of CD. <genre/style description a bit long =P> I’ve also started some courses in orchestration for both sampled (digital) orchestra as well as Live orchestral performances. To help with my studying I’ve been listening to a lot of Classical pieces. Everything from Beethoven, Bizet, Debussy to Holst, Mahler and Tchaikovsky. This will take some time but is something I feel is necessary with the development of my works presently and into the future. Thank you for reading and have a great day!
