THE JOURNEY
Alfonso Tellez Jr is an award-winning songwriter, producer, and composer based in Southeast Minnesota. Born in Texas and raised in Minnesota, Alfonso discovered music later in life through an unexpected source — heartbreak.
What began as emotional therapy after an unrequited love quickly evolved into a lifelong creative calling.
“I was never involved in choir or music programs growing up,” Alfonso explains. “Honestly… I barely listened to music at all.”
At 19 years old, Alfonso began writing down his emotions as a way to process loss and confusion. Soon after, he started humming melodies into a small digital recorder — teaching himself to build songs entirely by ear. That raw and unconventional process became the foundation of his signature sound: a blend of cinematic pop, Latin influence, and contemporary classical music.
Inspired by legendary artists and composers such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Antonio Vivaldi, Alfonso developed a style rooted equally in emotion, melody, and storytelling.
His debut independent release, Complicated (2006), introduced listeners to his pop-driven songwriting style. By the release of Classical Movement Vol. 1 in 2009, Alfonso had expanded into orchestral and classical-inspired composition — a bold creative shift that ultimately helped define his artistic identity.
Since then, Alfonso has continued evolving as both an artist and composer, creating music that bridges genres, cultures, and emotion-driven storytelling.
Through solo projects, collaborative songwriting, and multimedia creative ventures, he continues building a world where music is more than entertainment — it’s transformation.
Currently hard at work in the studio, Alfonso is preparing a new wave of original music and collaborative releases scheduled throughout 2026.
